Hastings Direct’s quarterly donation has enabled a local charity to buy a vehicle helping them to support more people without a permanent home and those sleeping rough in the Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne area.

Choosing ‘Warming Up The Homeless’ as their charity partner to support throughout 2019, Hastings Direct colleagues regularly give back to the local community by also donating their time as well as raising much needed money through fundraising events.

Since January, colleagues have found many ways to raise money for ‘Warming Up The Homeless’. From cake sales to quiz nights, a sponsored sea swim to competing in a 10k rough runner obstacle course, colleagues have found lots of fun ways to fundraise. Many have also helped practically by donating items including toiletries and non-perishable goods, which were distributed by the charity to those in need. Hastings Direct also donates unwanted food to the charity on a weekly basis.

Jay Wootten, Hastings Community Relations Manager commented; “We are proud of the time and commitment our colleagues give to supporting our charity partners in both Bexhill and Leicester. The money they raise has already made an invaluable difference to the work of the charity. We look forward to giving further support over the coming months.”

Trudy Hampton, Fundraising Manager and Trustee at ‘Warming Up the Homeless’ said, “Hastings Direct has turned our plans into a reality. Thanks to their very generous donation we were able to put money towards a much needed van. This van means we can carry a lot more stock so we can reach out to many more homeless people.”
