Staff based at Newmarket's insurance broker Hastings Direct are appealing for local charities to support in 2015.

Each year the staff fundraise through a series of events to help improve the lives of those in need in their local community — staff also donate their time to help in practical ways as the company gives each member of the 200 staff one working day to donate to a charity. Previously staff have dug gardens, decorated community halls and delivered Christmas presents to those in need.

Jay Wootten, community liaison, Hastings Direct: "We are appealing to local charities which may need some financial assistance or physical support to get in touch as we may be able to help.

"Ideally we are looking for up to four local charities partners next year — however, charities must be officially registered, local and be a charity we can make a real difference too. We have worked with a number of charities in the past and they too can appeal to us for support. Once we have a shortlist, our staff will vote on which four to support — previously we have helped medical charities and those that support children and families, the elderly and animals."

"If you know of charity that may need some extra support please let us know via email at community@hastingsdirect.com with its details and how we may be able to assist."
