Hastings Group (“Hastings”, the “Group”) has published its fifth annual Sustainability Report outlining progress made against the Group’s sustainability agenda and the continued support to colleagues, customers and communities throughout 2024. 

Colleagues continue to be the driving force behind our ambitious plans of growing sustainably by working to support each other, our customers and our communities for a positive future. 

Highlights include: 

  • Certified CarbonNeutral® for the fifth consecutive year and our science-based targets validated with the Science Based Targets initiatives (SBTi) 
  • Both Bexhill and Leicester offices now powered by 100% renewable energy which has aided the 84% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions 
  • Becoming a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact  
  • Colleagues raising over £78,000 for charities and providing more than 13,000 hours of practical support. Over £100,000 raised for Pink Ribbon through the Insure Pink product and charity golf day 
  • Continued partnership with the environmental charity Earthwatch Europe supporting another 109 trainee teachers, and funding extra environmental education sessions with Groundwork South for 59 young people 
  • Recognised as #1 Best Big Company to Work For 2024 with a 3 Star rating from Best Companies 
  • 55% of customers made policy changes via the Hastings Direct app which has had more than six million downloads 
  • 700 colleagues attended Wellfest, taking home flower seed wristbands to plant 
  • 64 colleagues enrolled on graduate and apprenticeship schemes 
  • 1,500 trees planted as a result of customers opting for this instead of a courtesy car - 3,900 since launching in 2022
