This year’s Bexhill Carnival Week has once again been hailed a success despite the weather being less than kind! Hundreds of spectators turned out to support the many events across the week with monies being raised for this year’s Carnival charity partners, Bexhill Gateway Club, Lunch Buddies & Bexhill Golden Marigold Club.

Hosting seven days of events for the town, Bexhill Carnival runs annually throughout the last week of July and is totally funded by local businesses including main sponsors Hastings Direct, Commando Fitness and J D Wetherspoon.

Bexhill Carnival Chairman, Nim Whitmarsh said, “We are delighted with the week and even though the weather was not kind to us, the public supported all of the events throughout the week.”

The traditional Carnival Quiz and Community Hymn Singing kicked off the events, with Walking Football, Commando Fitness Challenge, the Carnival Dog Show and Party in the Park taking place throughout the rest of the eventful week. The Carnival procession on Saturday hosted over 37 floats and individuals and filled the town with music and colour, despite the weather bring particularly grey!

Carnival Events manager, Jay Wootten said, “Well done to all who took part in the week. A special mention to Chris Haines, Penny Thomas, Entertainment Workshops, 1066 Showmarshall and Phase One security who helped us run our events.  It was great also see the old Bexhill Carnival queen float back on the road during the procession, thanks to Charlie Rowland.”

Nim Whitmarsh added, “We start working on 2018’s event in September where we hope start planning some new carnival events. We are a team of volunteers and always welcome others to come and join us.  If you are interested please get in touch by email eventsteam@bexhillcarnval.co.uk
