Hastings Direct donated running shirts and £200 to the Pestalozzi Running Club which has just raised over £1,700 by running in the Hastings Half Marathon to provide scholarships for young students.
Hastings Direct's A Helping Hand makes financial, professional and physical support available to the local community. Each month Hastings is able to offer either professional support from its 1,700+ staff, or physical support with team building days. In addition, Hastings has made a small monthly grant available to support local funding.
The monies raised will now provide scholarships for future Pestalozzi students — exceptional young people from disadvantaged communities around the world, who would otherwise not have the chance to complete their secondary education.
Pestalozzi scholarships give young people an opportunity they would not otherwise receive — the chance to develop their potential, pursue their ambitions and go on to make a real and lasting difference in the world.
Darren Maylam, one of the staff members of Pestalozzi Running Club, said, "I want to say a big thank you on behalf of the whole team to Hastings Direct who have provided our T-shirts - we looked really professional! We have had to brave torrential rain, strong winds, aching muscles and sore feet through training but it's all worth it as we have raised a small fortune."
