Insurance broker Hastings Direct gave 'A Helping Hand' of £100 to fifteen year old Dan Tillett from Bexhill, who has recently been selected for the England Junior Sea Angling Team.

Hastings Direct's A Helping Hand scheme makes financial, professional and physical support available to local community groups and individuals.

Dan who attends St Richard's School and is currently studying for his GCSE's said: "I only took up fishing two years ago so to be selected for the England Junior Sea Angling Team is a real achievement. I have been really lucky to have been mentored by Brian Pask and Yogi Poland and I have also received lots of tips and encouragement from all the members of Bexhill Sea Angling Club. I am really grateful to Hastings Direct for their donation, which will go towards the £600 costs that are needed to fund the trip."

Jay Wootten, community liaison, Hastings Direct said: "When Dan wrote to us asking for help, we were pleased to provide a donation. Not only is he focused on his fishing, but also supports other young people starting the sport. He's also an active member and volunteer of the Bexhill Swimming Club."
