At Hastings, we understand the power and importance of connecting to nature and the impact future generations can have on combatting climate change. As we continue to explore ways to support communities and highlight environmental initiatives in our local areas and on a national level, we’re excited to partner and support Earthwatch’s Teach Earth education programme.

Part of Earthwatch Europe, Earthwatch’s Teach Earth innovative project is designed to equip teachers and trainee teachers with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to connect children with nature as part of the curriculum.

We are working with Earthwatch to deliver programmes, coaching up 120 trainee teachers near our offices in London and Leicester, supporting Earthwatch’s goal of reaching 50% of children in underserved areas by 2030.

For every 20 teachers receiving this training, they will pass on the Earthwatch messages to 600 students a year! Additionally, we have supported the creation of teaching materials for key stage four children, which will soon be available in schools all over the country.

Louise Underwood, Director of Business Services at Hastings said, “At Hastings we are committed to doing the right thing, creating a positive impact whilst growing our business in a sustainable way. We are delighted to partner with Earthwatch, to support the creation of a sustainability education programme for schools, introducing education of the next generation in response to climate change. The programme aims to help motivate and empower students with the knowledge they need to tackle and adapt to the impacts of climate change.  We are excited to be helping teachers and school groups connect with nature. ”
