Staff from Hastings Direct has given A Helping Hand to the replacement of a memorial bench in Sidley.
An accident in 1989 which tragically killed local residents — Mrs Prudence and Mrs Honeysett — returning home from an evening of bingo, led to the placing of a memorial bench on Sidley Green. Today and running up to the 25 year anniversary, the bench which sadly had been vandalised in the interim and removed — is being replaced thanks to local fundraising and support from Hastings Direct.
Led by local residents Nikkie Littlejohn, Lucy Mepham and Ruth Bridger lots of local fundraising should raise the £1400 needed to replace the memorial bench.
Nikkie Littlejohn: "From children who have donated their pocket money to local businesses like Hastings Direct whose staff donated £500, we hope to raise the money in time for the twenty fifth year anniversary of these ladies untimely death and would just like to take this opportunity to publically thank everyone for their support and generosity."

In addition, Hastings has made a small monthly grant available to support local funding.
