Insurance broker Hastings Direct gave 'A Helping Hand' of £100 to Kevin Wells who along with friends is climbing the Great Wall of China in aid of Grief Encounter.

Hastings Direct's A Helping Hand makes financial, professional and physical support available to the local community.

Grief Encounter has helped many thousands of children and their respective families over the last 11 years by providing counselling and guidance for those coming to terms with losing a sibling or parent. Grief Encounter has grown from very humble beginnings in 2003 to being recognised as a leading and established Children's Bereavement Charity in the UK.

Kevin said "The ongoing task of self-funding this huge charity operation relies on the hard work and dedication of committed fundraisers, and I'm privileged to be part of that team. In October this year, a team of us will be walking up various parts of the Great Wall of China to fundraise for our charity. Any donations for this great cause would be gratefully received and can be made through Just Giving: Kevin-WellsCharityChallenge."

Jay Wootten, community liaison, Hastings Direct said: "We're delighted to be able to support Kevin in his challenge to climb the Great Wall of China. Grief Encounter provides great support to a number of families in difficult times, and we're glad our donation will go to support their work."
