Hastings Direct has announced the charities that will benefit from the company’s fundraising efforts throughout the coming year.

Selecting different charity partners each year, 2019’s beneficiaries have been confirmed as Warming Up the Homeless in the Bexhill area and Edgar’s Gift in Leicester.

Across the year, Hastings Direct will host and take part in many fundraising events and activities with monies raised being distributed amongst the charity partners.

Nominating and selecting the charity partners, Hastings Direct colleagues help to give back to the local community by also donating their time in practical ways including the opportunity to volunteer with the charities. In 2018, colleagues helped transform the garden at a local art centre, took part in a charity football match, clean Bexhill beach as well as serving weekly meals to the disadvantaged.

Jay Wootten, Hastings Community Relations Manager commented; “We are thrilled to announce our charity partners for 2019. We will be working with the two charities in our local areas throughout the year to help them achieve their fundraising and practical activity goals. We are now planning our internal fundraising events which will provide financial donations and later in the year our colleagues will volunteer their time to help in a variety ways.”

Trudy Hampton, Fundraising Manager and Trustee at ‘Warming Up the Homeless’ said, "Warming Up the Homeless is absolutely delighted to have been chosen to be one of Hastings Direct's 2019 charity partners. The practical and financial support from their colleagues will mean we can help so many more without a permanent home and try to make the lives of people sleeping rough a little more bearable.”

Neil Bradman, Edgar’s Gift, Trustee said, “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as one of Hastings Direct’s local charity partners for 2019. The practical and financial support from their colleagues throughout the year will mean we can provide more special days out, unique experiences and luxury gifts to young adults who are suffering from cancer, in memory of our own son, Ben. Depending on how much money is raised, it may also help us towards the cost of upgrading the charity holiday caravan in a couple of years that we use to offer cancer patients free holidays away together.”
