Hastings Direct has announced the charities that will benefit from the company’s fundraising efforts throughout the coming year.

Selecting different charity partners each year, 2018’s beneficiaries have been confirmed as Eastbourne based You Raise Me Up and Seaview in Hastings and Hope Against Cancer in the Leicestershire and Rutland areas and Open Hands in Leicester.

Across the year, Hastings Direct will host and take part in many fundraising events and activities with monies raised being distributed amongst the charity partners.

Nominating and selecting the charity partners, Hastings Direct colleagues help to give back to the local community by also donating their time in practical ways including the opportunity to volunteer with the charities. In 2017, colleagues helped distribute food to the homeless in Hastings, transform the garden at a local hospice, run a bingo afternoon for the elderly and help in Bexhill charity shops.

Jay Wootten, Hastings Community Relations Manager commented; “We are thrilled to announce our charity partners for 2018. We will be working with the four charities in our local areas throughout the year to help them achieve their fundraising and practical activity goals. We are now planning our internal fundraising events which will provide financial donations and later in the year our colleagues will volunteer their time to help in a variety ways.”

Leesa Pattison, Centre Manager at You Raise Me Up said; "All of us at You Raise Me Up are extremely grateful to Hastings Direct for selecting us as their charity partner. The much needed funds the company has pledged and started raising for You Raise Me Up will help us continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support to families who lose their young children suddenly. We have a support centre with a coffee shop in Polegate where every penny of the profits goes back into the charity so we can continue to make a difference in the lives of people who need our support.”

Seaview charity Chief Officer, Annie Whelan said; “Seaview is thrilled to be chosen as one of Hasting Direct’s 2018 charity partners. With the numbers of rough sleepers and those insecurely housed on the rise and the need for our service growing, we are under constant pressure to raise funds to keep our doors open. We are looking forward to developing our relationship with Hastings Direct staff during their community days as well as working with them to address some of our building issues over the next year.”

CEO Nigel Rose, Hope Against Cancer said; “Hope Against Cancer is privileged and delighted to have been chosen as one of Hastings Direct’s charity partner. They will be raising money to help us fund vital, life-saving research equipment that will benefit cancer patients now and in the future, helping to ensure that more people survive this disease!”

Open Hands Operations Manager, Bethany Corbett said; “Open Hands is grateful to have been given the opportunity to partner with Hastings Direct this year. The charity meets the basic needs of hundreds of individuals every week through providing food, clothing, furniture, skills courses, advice services and mentoring opportunities to disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and families in Leicester. We are looking forward to working together with Hastings Direct to further strengthen our investment in the local community, ensuring those most in need are equipped and empowered to move forward in their lives.”
