Staff from Hastings Direct — the biggest employer in Bexhill — has been taking part in a Summer of Sport to raise money for the Education Futures Trust.
Departments have battled each other on the cricket field, football pitch, rounders field, athletics track and even in a tug of war! The Summer's events will culminate in a glitzy award ceremony when the total amount raised will be announced.
The Education Futures Trust is a local charity working in and around Hastings to help support programmes, initiative and projects linked to education.
Hastings staff presented the charity with an initial £550 to help purchase school uniforms for local children in need ahead of the new school year — more funds will be presented over the coming weeks.
All from Hastings Direct unless otherwise stated (L-R); Alex Goodsell, Tom Gumbrell, Jason Turner, Teresa Paterson — Education Futures Trust, Aaron Frazer-Bates and Harry Crane.
Carole Dixon, CEO , Education Futures Trust: "We really appreciate the support given by the staff at Hastings Direct.
"It is difficult to explain how much difference this will make: many of our families are unable to afford school uniform at the beginning of the new school year, and this contribution will give the children a positive start. They will be able to take pride in their appearance, look forward to starting their new classes and have a much better chance of achieving well. Thank you to all involved".
Jay Wootten, community liaison, Hastings Direct: "The Education Futures Trust really make a difference in the lives of school children in the area — making their time at school both easier and more productive and we are proud to support their work."
